                                    Adult Forum

Facebook? Texting? Hip Hop? And what's with the vampire novels?
Just in time for the first day of Sunday School, St. Luke's is launching an exciting and all new Adult Forum that addresses these and other issues that kids deal with and the rest of us wonder about it. Completely redesigned, the new Adult Forum at St. Luke's will focus on issues related to raising our children as thoughtful and productive Christians in today's challenging of environment. Informative, interactive, and inspirational, the new Adult Forum is an opportunity for fellowship while sharing ideas about current parenting topics. So if you have children or grandchildren, or know anyone who has some, St. Luke's Adult Forum is for you. Please join us every Sunday during the Sunday School hour.

                                    Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

"If we want to help the child draw nearer to God, we should with patience and courage seek to go always closer to the vital nucleus of things. This requires study and prayer. The child will be our teacher if we know how to observe."

                                    -- Sofia Cavalletti

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a unique approach to children’s Christian formation. The program is based on the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. The primary belief is that God and the child have a unique relationship with one another and that the growth of this relationship should be assisted by the adult but is directed by the Spirit of God within the child.

At St. Luke’s, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is available for children ages 3 to 9 during the Sunday School hour. Each week, children ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 gather in their respective rooms, called atria. This special space contains hands-on materials that the children work with and use, such as a model altar. The children also gather around a prayer table each week to listen and talk with God.

For more information about the Catechesis program, please contact Betty Estes or the Church office.

St. Luke's is a registered DISCIPLE Bible Study church, with members who have completed the basic course and certified instructors in the congregation. The DISCIPLE Bible Study program is an adult Christian education program, concentrating on an in-depth study of Scripture. The program is based on the beliefs that people are hungry for the word of God, for fellowship in prayer and study, and for a sense of appropriate ministry as baptized, believing, committed Christians. The program emphasizes disciplined reading of and listening to Scripture.
