ministry opportunities and notices

At St. Luke's Powhatan we value every member of our Church Family!  We strive to meet the needs of all, and that requires everybody's participation and effort.  We are always looking for volunteers to assist in our various ministries, whether it be taking Eucharist to those who cannot attend services, serving on the vestry, or altar guild, or raking the leaves in the fall, your assistance is vital to serving those in our Church Family, and the surrounding community.  We will be posting areas and commissions that are looking for volunteer assistance on this page.  Please take the time to look over these opportunities to serve others, and contact the person listed to volunteer.  If you know of an area not listed, but that you would like to serve in, please contact the office.

Please email Johnny and Kelli Krauss at stiritup@me.com with your contact information. We will continue to keep everyone informed of how HFH is helping those in need in or community as well as finding ways for our teens and young ones to get       involved.

backpacks of love

We are so thankful for the unwavering generosity of St. Luke's members in providing weekend food for the hungry school children in our areas.  THANK YOU!! Approximately 1,100 children are receiving food each week!  The end of the school year is near, and we have only six weeks left to help.  This is a critical time of the year for children's performances on state tests and other requirements.  Having proper nourishment over the weekend greatly benefits children and helps their performance each week in school.  Please bring food items (ravioli, Spaghetti O’s, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, peanut butter, tuna fish, small cans of Spam, corn beef, juice boxes, fruit cups, applesauce cups, dried fruit, Pop Tarts, granola bars, nabs, crackers, Rice Krispy Treats, fig bars, pudding cups, bottle water (12 oz. or smaller), milk that needs no refrigeration, juice boxes and Capri Sun) to Church every Sunday through June 2.  All items should be a single serving size with pop tops for easy opening. For more information, please call John or Susan Joseph at 598-4099.

Prayer Request Cards

If you would like someone on the prayer list to receive a "St. Luke’s Prayer Card", telling them that people from St. Luke’s are praying for them, please email Laurel Harrelson at laurelharrelson@comcast.net with the name and address.
