SHORT-TERM DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY – INVITATION TO ROMANS. Starting in September and running for 8 weeks, Fr. Larry will facilitate an in-depth study of the Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Romans. The study will not only explore the text of this epistle, but how people down through the ages have interpreted Romans and in particular how theologians like Augustine, Luther and Calvin have understood Paul and his “radical” view of God’s relationship to the world and the believer. The course is recommended for those with some familiarity with Romans and who possess a strong biblical foundation to draw upon in this study. If you have any questions or would like to sign-up for the course that will meet on Monday evenings for 90 minutes starting in September please see Fr. Larry. Thank you.
The Coalition of Powhatan Churches will be collecting canned meat and items for the food pantry the entire month of September. St. Luke’s would like to help by collecting food each Sunday in September (not just the 4th Sunday). Thanks for helping support the Ruby Leonard Food Pantry in Powhatan.

Trip to Washington National Cathedral. St. Luke's is planning a trip to the National Cathedral on Saturday, September 25th. Through the generosity of several anonymous donors, a 55 passenger motor coach will transport us - free of charge to all who are going (15 seats remaining.) Your only out-of-pocket cost is the $5 per person charge for the guided tour of the cathedral. This is a "family outing" and children are most welcome and will be a marvelous (and fun) way for them to be introduced to one of the jewels of the Episcopal Church. Children (of all ages) will especially enjoy seeing the stained glass window commemorating the first landing on the moon that actually contains a fragment of moon rock, and then there is the Darth Vader gargoyle and so much more! Please call the church office no later than August 1 to make your reservation. More details to follow or see Janet Tucker, Betty Estes or Fr. Larry if you have any questions.
