St. Luke’s has been involved in the search process for a new priest since early January. The congregation and the Search Committee met together for a series of Holy Conversations in February to begin the process of identifying who we are as church and as congregation. The topics on four successive Sundays included our history, what we value, when we have experienced pain and disappointment, and our hopes and dreams for the future. These meetings provided the foundation for the Search Committee to begin work on the parish profile and to identify the ministry skills that we felt were most needed by our church and our community.
Father Sean Cox, our priest-in-charge, helped to guide us through the process. A priest-in-charge acts as an interim priest but may also be considered as a candidate for the open position. Though we were early in the process, consensus was building within the Search Committee and the congregation that it would be hard to find a candidate who better matched our needs than Father Cox.
Our process was interrupted by two earth shattering events. The first was the sudden passing of Father Sean. The second was the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of all in-person church services. Our work to prepare for and call a new priest is paused while we grieve and practice social distancing. Once we are able to meet again in person, we will review our prior work and reboot the search process. Please keep St. Luke’s in your prayers.
