eucharistic VIsitors

Eucharistic Visitors are members of the congregation who bring Communion to those who are unable to come to church because of illness or infirmity. Kits containing consecrated sacraments are provided to the Visitors during a service, and they conduct abbreviated Communion services in homes, the hospital, or nursing homes. Visitors also have a pastoral role, offering their presence in a way than can bring hope and even healing to those who may feel isolated or lonely. Usually visitors leave feeling that they have received far more than they have given.
Once each month, Visitors from St. Luke's share Holy Communion with residents of the Beaufont Towers Assisted Living Community in Richmond, The Meadows in Goochland, Beaufont Healthcare in Richmond, and Spring Arbor in Midlothian. In addition, Visitors celebrate Communion with parishioners who are unable to come to church as needed at their homes.
For more information on the Eucharistic Visitor program, please contact Thom Estes or the Church Office.

"Ashes to Go"

On Ash Wednesday, takes their ashes on the road. Church staff spend the day offering ashes to folks in the community in places like the YMCA, assisted living and memory care facilities, restaurants who invited them to please come, and even to a local hospital ICU Unit.
"We heard wonderful stories on the road and had some incredible theological conversations with some who wanted to know what we were doing, where we were from, and what were these ashes all about anyway," said Becki. "Others were aware that it was Ash Wednesday and were unable to go to church. They were grateful for the opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes." "It was evangelism at its best. We all returned pleasantly exhausted and profoundly blessed," said Becki. "God truly imagined more for us than we ever could have imagined for ourselves on this most Holy day."
