Confirmation Class
Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Jesus Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. It is required of those to be confirmed that they have been baptized, are sufficiently instructed in the Christian Faith, are penitent for their sins, and are ready to affirm their confession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (BCP, 860)
A confirmation class is currently meeting to prepare candidates for confirmation on October 13, 2019. The class is intended for both young people age 14 or older and for adults who wish to be confirmed, received or expand their knowledge. Candidates must attend worship regularly and are required to present a copy of a Baptismal Certificate. Dates and times for meetings will be set after we know the schedules of those who will be participating. Those who wish to participate in the future should contact Anne Larrick (598-7679).

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
What is it?
At St. Luke’s, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is available for children ages 3 to grade 6 each week during the Sunday morning Christian Formation hour (9:00am to 10:30 a.m.). There is also a Monday morning meeting for children ages 3-7 from 10:30 am until 11:45 a.m. Each age group meets in a special child friendly space known as an atrium that contains hands-on materials that the children work with and use, such as a model altar. The children also gather around a prayer table each week to listen and talk with God. A minimum of two trained catechists work together to assist the children as they explore and grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s love for them.
Atrium I is designed for children ages 3 through Kindergarten. Children in grades 1 through 6 meet together, but are divided up for curriculum purposes into Atruim II (grades 1-3) and Atrium III (grades 4-6). The leaders, known as Catechists, have over 100 hours of training to facilitate the spiritual development and work of these children. Come and visit to learn more, or take a look at the national Catechesis website - http://www.cgsusa.org/. Speak to our Rector or a Catechist to enroll your child in one of these groups.

Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
Journey to Adulthood includes young people in grades 7 – 12.
Christian formation is a lifelong process; The Journey to Adulthood program gives young people a firm foundation on which to build. The program falls into three distinct phases, each of which is two years in length: Rite-13, J2A (Journey to Adulthood) and YAC (Young Adults in the Church). The six year journey enables young people to discover and experience the love of God and provides sacred space for teens to question, wonder and work on their relationships with God and with each other. The Sacrament of Confirmation is offered to those who are prepared and wish to receive it at the end of J2A. These youth programs include weekly meetings during Christian Formation hour (Sundays, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.) and other outreach, fellowship, and retreat activities. You can learn more about the national J2A program at the following website - http://www.leaderresources.org/J2A-C
Our youth also participate in diocesan sponsored retreats and events. Diocesan offerings can be viewed at: http://www.diosova.org/youth/article288356c4544257.htm
