Values + Beliefs

We are a Christian family.

We strive to be a welcoming community of faith, sharing God’s love with all.

We may be firm in our faith or constantly questioning. We find our unity, not in a common consensus on all matters, but in a common journey toward God through the worship and ministry of our church. We are tied together by our belief in the love of God, as found in Jesus.

We Believe

We believe first and foremost that we can best come to know God, our Father, through a relationship with his Son, Jesus Christ. In the Sacrament of Baptism we are filled with the Holy Spirit and marked as Christ’s own forever. We are empowered and guided by the Spirit to love and serve others with God’s love. We give witness to our faith in word and deed.

Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive grace.
— The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) p. 857

The principal sacraments of the Church are Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist, also called The Last Supper, Holy Communion, and by other Names in other denominations.

Celebration of Marriage

is “the sacrament by which God adopts us as his children and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.” (BCP p. 858).

is the sacrament in which the sacrifice of Christ is made present. Christ unites us to his one offering of himself through the outward sign of the bread and wine and the inward and spiritual grace of the Body and Blood of Christ received by faith. All are welcome to receive Communion at St. Luke’s.

Celebration of Marriage is a solemn and public covenant between two people in the presence of God and the Church. Guidelines for the celebration of a marriage are available through the Church office.
